In American productions of the anime (namely dubs), there could have been further censoring. The are also other small differences between the two, including different music in some cases, and new scenes added/redone in Kai.Īs for censorship, some scenes where updated to fit the new standards of Japanese Television. In doing so, you miss the two-three seasons that came afterward. Much of this was cut in Kai, and so, unless you've already seen DBZ, it might seem a little choppy.īy ending at the Cell saga, it ends in the place where the original author Akira Toriyama wanted it to. The challenges and events he faces, as well as the people he meets, all influence the person he becomes later on. For example: In the original DBZ, one of the most intriguing, and perhaps touching, moments is Gohan surviving alone in the wilderness. In some cases though, this could affect how some see the development of characters. Kai is more faithful to the manga than the original anime was. Some (like myself) enjoyed the filler, while others thought it to be extra fluff. Secondly, the main difference is that Kai lacks the filler content of the original Dragon Ball Z, and stops at the end of the Cell saga.īy filler I mean content not originally in the manga. It did flow naturally, though, and was fairly exciting.First off, Dragon Ball Z Kai doesn't include anything from Dragon Ball, which is the story of Goku as a child. For instance, Vegeta's look when Yajirobe attacks him is a little off-model. The episode was done rather well, but there were still some awkward frames here and there that I would have appreciated some touching up on.
I think by episode 38 we'll have Vegeta's fight with Cui. Obviously there won't be a clear cut ending to this current arc, since they seem to want to do most of the aftermath and the beginning of the next arc in the next episode. Wow, in sixteen episodes, we've covered that much material. The episode covers most of episodes 34 and 35 of the original run of the series. It also goes to show later how nerfed he gets after the Freeza battle (maybe even before). I guess it only goes to show how tough he is and how desperate the battle was. Oozaru Gohan? Kienzan! Squish? Still alive.
Exhausted and bloody, Vegeta summons his pod ship to escape the planet, but Kuririn confronts him with Yajirobe's sword, intending to finish him off. Vegeta cuts off Gohan's tail, but Gohan falls on him before completely transforming back. In his Oozaru form, Gohan hurts Vegeta badly.
Discovering Gohan's tail has grown back, Vegeta tries to dispatch him before he sees the artificial moon, but thanks to a diversion by Yajirobe, Gohan transforms before he can be killed. Vegeta appears to have been killed by the Genki Dama, but recovers, although in very bad shape. Synopsis: With encouragement from Goku and Kaio, Kuririn fires the Genki Dama, which Vegeta dodges, but is deflected by Gohan and hits the target. Episode 16,"The Invincible Vegeta Defeated! Son Gohan Summons a Miracle"
